Sony has backward compatibility for PlayStation 1 (PS one) games on the new Slim PS3. It has been since 60GB PS3 had not the ability to play games PlayStation 2 on a PS3. Unfortunately it is not possible to buy a 60 GB version anywhere was discontinued several years ago. Many people want the PS3 to play two games for PlayStation, and you know what is possible and will probably happen in the future in the system, let me explain.
The system is already capable of playing two games for PlayStation, if wanted. Sony can easily allow users to play PS2 software in a software update in the PS3 Slim. Simple is not it. The ability to play PS2 games on the PS3 was taken to keep the sale of PlayStation 2.
The reasons Sony was able to play PS2 games away in the first Instead, because the last generation of the console is still selling a little. Sony felt that there was no reason to keep a PS2 in the market with the PS3 compatibility 2games backwards to have PlayStation, Sony thus eliminating the ability to emulate PS2 games on the PS3 to boost sales of PlayStation 2.
Really I think Sony adds the ability to reproduce the second generation of the new console in the future, only once the old console fails to sell, what it is. I this is something that will be featured in future Once the PlayStation 2 has become defunct expect those old games that are playable on the system near you soon!
